¿Qué significa “pobre en espíritu”?
Desde el inicio de su ministerio, Jesús contradijo las expectativas nacionalistas de lo que era el reino de Dios. Él dijo: “Bienaventurados los pobres en espíritu, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos”. Mateo 5:3
Es una actitud de humildad que cuando le clama a Dios, reconoce que sin él, estoy totalmente bancarrota espiritualmente. Esto chocaba con los fariseos que cuando oraban, le daban gracias a Dios por por quiénes eran y todo lo que “ellos” habían logrado.
Sin embargo, vemos que ni nuestros logros ni nuestras cuentas bancarias le impresionan a Dios. Nota, a diferencia de los fariseos, cómo el Rey David se refería a sí mismo, el hombre más rico de su nación: “Este pobre clamó, y le oyó Jehová, Y lo libró de todas sus angustias.” (Salmo 34:6 )
Cuando oras a Dios, ¿vas a él más como un fariseo, recordándole de todo lo que te debe porque eres tan bueno, o vas como David, quien humildemente reconoció que aunque rico materialmente, era pobre espiritualmente sin Dios? Te invito a reflexionar.
